We are a team of trained land tenure professionals supporting responsible investments in Africa.
COLANDEF Research & Facilitation Services is a consultancy unit of COLANDEF, an NGO dedicated to community development through the strengthening of land tenure security for close to 20 years.
In recent times, we have learned that;
An important aspect of our focus on customary land rights relates to facilitating communities’ preparedness and making them investor ready.
Facilitating community consultations relating to land-based investments is as important for securing customary land rights as other interventions we deliver to customary land rights holders.
Providing capacity strengthening in international best practices to community level actors provides opportunity for balancing the power relations between investors and local communities.
Serving as a facilitator in the operationalization of international best practices for responsible investments in the local context can be rewarding for investors and local communities, as well as complement the gains made in our efforts to securing customary land rights.
COLANDEF Research & Facilitation Services was formed in response to the growing demand from investors for COLANDEF to provide services in project land acquisition and community level engagements.
Our Approach
We offer full-stack facilitation services to our clients seeking to acquire land for investment. This involves all stages of the investment cycle from inception to community entry and engagements, land leasing, project implementation, and beyond.
We believe that investments in local communities can be mutually beneficial when done right.

We provide technical support for investors seeking to acquire land for investment projects.
Indeed, while the land tenure system in Ghana can be complex, it is still possible to successfully navigate the system and implement socially responsible land-based investments.
We provide support through services in project land identification, analysis of land tenure dynamics in the proposed project location, stakeholder analysis, effective entry into project area and engagements with project stakeholders to build social legitimacy, and more.
